Abandoned Mine Land (AML) Projects - To comply with NEPA notification provisions and for the convenience of the public, the NEPA determination documents for projects are available from the following states:

  • Kentucky (authorized after January 1, 2011)
  • Tennessee (authorized after October 1, 2014)
  • Virginia (authorized after January 1, 2014)

The following is a select list of resources throughout all of OSMRE's websites. The links open in a new window as those resources are located on our national website, www.osmre.gov, or other separate OSMRE operated websites. Applied Science - Projects that develop and demonstrate improved technologies to address public safety and environmental issues related to the mining of coal and reclamation of the lands affected after mining.

Bonds - As a prerequisite for obtaining a coal mining permit, a person must post a reclamation bond to ensure that the regulatory authority will have sufficient funds to reclaim the site if the permittee fails to complete the reclamation plan approved in the permit.

Budget - Budget information for the past several years including budget justifications, proposed budget summmaries, and the Department of Interior's "Budget in Brief".

Directives - Directives are written communication provided in the form of instructions, manuals, notices, guides, policies, and procedures. These policy documents assist employees in effectively performing their jobs.

Grants - This page gives information on both Regulatory Program grants and Abandoned Mine Land (AML) grants.

Laws, Regulations, and Guidance - A listing of applicable laws, and links to the Code of Federal Regulations, Federal Register Documents, and other policy and guidance documents.
