Borehole Video System

The Federal Reclamation Program Division (FRPD) is responsible for implementing the AML emergency program in Kentucky, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.  The program consists of addressing emergencies that arise from coal mining that occurred prior to May 3, 1977 (the passage of SMCRA).  These emergencies range from landslides, mine subsidence, refuse fires, mine fires, mine drainage issues and mine blowouts.  FRPD also administers high priority AML projects in Michigan, Rhode Island, North Carolina and Georgia.  It is also charged with contracting support for the Appalachian Region and property management services (including fleet management) for the Appalachian Regional Office (ARO). 

FRPD also does the following:

• Performs emergency civil penalty reclamation
  
• Provides technical assistance to State programs
  
• Provides borehole cameral services
  
• Provides mine gas detection and monitoring services
  
• Maintains the Anthracite mine map repository
  
• Teaches technical training classes
  
• Provides mail services for the ARO
  
• Manages supplies for the ARO
